Asked in 2018 where
he saw himself in fi ve
years’ time, the 19-year-
old’s answer was clear.
“Still at Liverpool – an
important fi gure in
a team that’s won a lot
of silverware,
” he said.
And so it came to pass.
Asked again last
January where he saw
himself in 2029, he
paused for some time,
before choosing his
words extremely
carefully.
“Winning big
individual honours, being
the best player in the
world, being a captain,
playing my part in
winning trophies for
England, cementing
a legendary status
within football,
” he said.
The word he didn’t
mention? Liverpool...
