Chapter 1: The World of Gears
In this world, human life has long been designed to function like precise gears, operating within an invisible, enormous machine. From the moment they are born, humans are assigned tasks—learning, working, consuming, and even entertaining themselves—all dictated by the needs of the machine’s operation. The World Government is both the designer of this machine and the manufacturer of its gears. They proclaim that humanity has reached the "pinnacle of civilization"—where everyone has material satisfaction and so-called "spiritual happiness." But beneath it all lies an endless void. thought is suppressed. All education, media, and culture revolve around a single core belief: "Becoming a qualified gear is your value, not your existence." Anyone who tries to break free from the gear system is labeled a "faulty gear," isolated, repaired, or even permanently destroyed.
"Thought is the root of pain." This is the central doctrine of the World Government. They believe that thought brings dissatisfaction, doubt, and struggle, which disrupt the efficiency of the system. To counter this, the World Government invented a technology called the "Mind Harmonizer," which adjusts every person’s thoughts to a unified frequency—a frequency devoid of pain, doubt, or even true joy. The gears need not understand what they are doing; they only need to function.

Chapter 2: Pain and Emptiness
The protagonist, Zero, is a gear who begins to question everything. During a routine system check, he accidentally uncovers sealed historical records. These records reveal a chilling truth—humanity once had free thought, experienced emotional highs and lows, and even loved life itself. However, as technology advanced, humanity could no longer endure the chaos and pain that came with freedom, so they chose to relinquish their thoughts and become gears.
Zero begins to ponder a question: "If humanity’s so-called happiness is only a byproduct of the gears’ operation, then what is the meaning of this existence?"
In his inner struggle, Zero experiences an unprecedented pain. This pain is the awakening of thought, a direct confrontation with emptiness. He realizes that material satisfaction cannot fill the void of the spirit, and spiritual satisfaction is merely an illusion designed by the World Government to pacify the gears.
"Existence itself is pain." Zero comes to this conclusion. He starts to believe that human existence is meaningless. The perfect machine designed by the World Government is not meant to bring happiness to humanity but to mask the absurdity of existence.

Chapter 3: Escaping the Gears
Zero’s awakening makes him a "faulty gear." The World Government dispatches repair agents to capture him and restore his thoughts to a "normal" state. During his escape, Zero encounters a group of "free gears"—individuals who refuse to accept the Mind Harmonizer. They live in the ruins of the city, far from the core of the machine.
The leader of the free gears, Cipher, tells Zero that their goal is not to rebuild a free world but to destroy this one. They believe that only by completely eradicating humanity can the cycle of pain finally end. Cipher says: "Human existence is a mistake. We are designed to be too intelligent yet too fragile. Thought brings us pain, and pain makes existence unbearable. Only non-existence is perfect."
Zero begins to accept this philosophy. He realizes that whether as a gear or in pursuit of freedom, one cannot escape the absurdity of existence. Freedom is not liberation, as freedom still requires confronting the essence of pain. Thus, he joins the free gears, determined to carry out their plan—to destroy Earth’s core and end it all.

## Chapter 4: Destroying the Core
The Earth’s core is a massive energy device that powers the entire gear system. The World Government calls it the "Perpetual Motion Engine," claiming it is the foundation of civilization and the heart of humanity’s survival. However, the free gears discover that the core is not perpetual; its operation consumes enormous resources, and their depletion will eventually lead to humanity’s demise.
The free gears’ plan is to detonate the core prematurely, bringing about humanity’s end quickly and completely. They believe this will reduce unnecessary suffering and grant humanity instant release.
Zero and the free gears infiltrate the core facility, engaging in a final confrontation with the World Government’s forces. In the midst of the battle, Zero personally activates the core’s self-destruction sequence. In the final moments of the countdown, he stands in the core’s radiant light, feeling an unprecedented calm.
"Non-existence is perfection." This is his final thought.

Chapter 5: Eternal Silence
The core’s explosion destroys Earth, and all life is annihilated in an instant. As everything fades into silence, the universe returns to its cold indifference and emptiness.
Yet, within this silence, there seems to be the birth of a new possibility. No thoughts, no pain, no existence, and no meaning. This is ultimate freedom and ultimate perfection.
"The gears no longer turn. The machine has stopped, and existence has finally been redeemed."
(The End)
