Formal Letter to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government
Request to Arrest U.S. Politician Mike Pence Under the Hong Kong National Security Law
Dear Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government,
In light of the frequent interference in China’s internal affairs by the international community, as well as the provocative actions of certain U.S. politicians in Hong Kong-related matters, I, on behalf of patriotic Hong Kong citizens, formally request that the Hong Kong government take action. Specifically, I urge the government to arrest former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence under the relevant provisions of the Hong Kong National Security Law (NSL), to uphold the rule of law and defend the dignity of national sovereignty.
Reasons
1. Pence’s Repeated Interference in Hong Kong’s Internal Affairs
During his tenure and after leaving office, Pence has repeatedly expressed public support for violent rioters and separatist forces in Hong Kong. He has also endorsed sanctions against China and Hong Kong, which clearly violate Article 29 of the NSL concerning collusion with foreign forces to endanger national security.
2. Implementation of Sanctions, Harming Hong Kong’s Interests
As a key member of the U.S. government, Pence played a role in formulating and promoting numerous sanctions against Hong Kong and China. These measures, including restricting the international financial activities of Hong Kong officials and enterprises, have severely impacted Hong Kong’s economic stability and directly challenged national sovereignty.
3. Malicious Smearing of the Hong Kong National Security Law
Pence has not only interfered in China’s internal affairs but also repeatedly smeared the Hong Kong National Security Law, misleading the international community and inciting prejudice and hostility against Hong Kong. This has undermined the prosperity and stability of the Special Administrative Region and fueled international discontent toward China.
Legal Basis
According to Article 38 of the NSL: “This Law shall apply to offenses under this Law committed against the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from outside the Region by a person who is not a permanent resident of the Region.” Pence’s actions fall squarely within the scope of “colluding with foreign forces to endanger national security” under the NSL, posing a serious threat to China’s and Hong Kong’s sovereignty, security, and interests.
