Trump picks Alex Wong for deputy national security adviser

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said on Friday that he has choosing former State Department official Alex Wong to serve as deputy national security adviser.

Wong, who served as deputy special representative for North Korea during the first Trump administration, "helped negotiate my Summit with North Korean Leader, Kim Jong Un," Trump said in a statement.

Trump also chose Sebastian Gorka to serve as White House senior director for counterterrorism, saying he had more than 30 years of national security experience.

出生於紐約市的一個廣東華人移民家庭[3]，先後從賓夕法尼亞大學取得英語文學和法語學士和從哈佛法學院取得法律博士。他曾於華府一所國際律師行執業，從事貿易與合規等範疇。2007年至2009年間曾任美國國務院伊拉克法治顧問。在2012年美國總統選舉期間，他參與米特·羅姆尼的競選團隊，擔任外交與法律政策總監。後來成為參議員湯姆·卡頓的外交政策和法律顧問。[1]

2016年美國大選後，他獲政治任命成為東亞暨太平洋事務局地區多邊關係副助卿，包括制定「印度─太平洋戰略」下的政策等。2018年3月20日至22日，成為《台灣旅行法》通過以後第一位訪問台灣的美國高級外交官，期間發表演講盛讚台灣是民主典範，美國也會根據價值觀外交而努力捍衛[4]。

Candice Chiu and Alex Nelson Wong were married Saturday evening at the DAR Memorial Continental Hall in Washington. The officiant was Sandra Day O’Connor, the retired United States Supreme Court justice, for whom the bride was a clerk from July 2011 to July 2012. The couple met at Harvard, from which the bride graduated and each received a law degree.

The bride, 31, is now a litigation associate at Bancroft, a Washington law firm.

She is a daughter of Meiling Fang and Ya-Hui Chiu of Ridgewood, N.J. The bride’s father retired as a senior manager of satellite operations at AsiaSat in Hong Kong. Her mother retired as a dietitian at Grantham Hospital, also in Hong Kong.

The groom, 34, is an associate specializing in international trade law at the Washington law firm Covington & Burling. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.

He is a son of Grace L. Wong and Robert C. K. Wong of Wyckoff, N.J. The groom’s mother is a real estate agent with the Franklin Lakes, N.J., office of Weichert Realtors. His father retired as a logistics sales manager at U.S. Group Consolidator, an international freight shipping company in Elmont, N.Y.
