“I was the one requesting the Jon Jones match” Francis Ngannou has commented on Dana White now saying that Francis didn’t want to face Jones
“I think, that’s the new narrative since Dana needs to say something (to promote his own athletes). Jon Jones didn’t want to face me according to them (UFC). We sat down for meeting so many times and they said he didn’t want to face me. So, the guy who controls the narrative can say whatever he wants. That’s his narrative.”
When Francis was initially offered Jones he accepted but Jones publicly declined saying 8-10 million wasn’t enough for him to take it. Jones sat out for three years.
At the time when both were under contract, Dana sided with Francis. Dana said that Jones asked for $30 million or he wouldn’t take the match. Dana then said that Jones should run all the way down to 185 to stay as far from Francis as possible.
Since Francis left the ufc, Dana has changed his tune to spin Jones in a positive light and Ngannou in a negative.
A couple years ago he said Jones shouldn’t want any part of Ngannou. But now dana says that Jones would beat Ngannou in one round.
