Legendary sprinter Usain Bolt, fastest man on the planet years after his retirement, lost at least $12 million which he had in his account with a Jamaican investment firm, reportedly leaving him on the verge of being bankrupt. The billion dollar fraud affected over 40 clients, with Bolt being one of the high-profile victims. Soon after the fraud, rumors started circulating about Bolt's account balance inexplicably dwindling from $12 million to just $12,000.
Reacting to the controversy, Usain Bolt refuted all reports of him being bankrupt. "No, I'm not broke," the 36-year-old told Jamaica Observer.
"It’s always going to be a sad situation for anybody to lose what they have worked hard for," he said. "That is a sad situation and I am definitely disappointed. I don't want to say too much but, as we know, from everybody’s standpoint it doesn't look good. I've read a few comments and everybody is confused. I am as confused as the public, but we’ll see what happens."
