The inaugural Nations Championship finals — the biennial playoffs among the world’s leading international rugby union sides — is to be held in London 2026, but Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong is an increasingly popular suggestion for subsequent editions.
Meanwhile, the British and Irish Lions are looking for a warm-up match on the way to New Zealand in 2029. World Rugby chief executive Alan Gilpin said: “Definitely Hong Kong is an option. Now if you close the roof, it would be a brilliant spectacle.”
