PSG will not be able to finalise payment of the €50m release clause before the end of today but there is an understanding — according to Barcelona sources, who will remain anonymous to protect positions — that all the sides will negotiate for a new transfer fee in order to complete the transfer.
It is expected that the deal will be for more than €50million. Dembele is keen to end his stay at Barcelona in a positive way with a transfer fee agreed rather than a release clause enacted.
The club had been relaxed about the situation as Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, had told Barcelona they did not plan to execute the €50m release clause the player had by the end of this month.
