As of August 29, 2024, if you open a new Premier checking account you must meet new qualifying criteria for that account. Changes to the Premier Qualification Criteria include an increase in the relationship balance requirement from $75,000 to $100,000. Any U.S. mortgage serviced by HSBC now qualifies for Premier, where a minimum principal balance of $500,000 was previously required. The Direct Deposit criteria hasn't changed.
Because your existing Premier checking account was opened before August 29, 2024, you have until January 1, 2026 to meet the new monthly Premier Qualification Criteria for that account to avoid a monthly maintenance fee.
