“Based on our simulations and comparisons with histological evidence (Contet-Audonneau et al., 1999; Tsukahara et al., 2011), the effect of tissue loss with aging may play an important role in transitioning from dynamic to static wrinkling. Our results suggest proper skin hydration may delay such a transition and thus reduce the formation of static wrinkles. “
