First-team coach Arno Michels is leading Chelsea from the dugout for our FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle after Thomas Tuchel tested positive for Covid-19, but confirmed our head coach is still very much pulling the strings today.
With Tuchel following protocols after his positive test, Michels took on the pre-match media duties at Stamford Bridge before the fourth-round tie and confirmed that Tuchel will have to wait and see whether he makes it to Abu Dhabi for the Club World Cup, but is in constant contact with his staff to take charge of today’s match even if he can’t be on the bench in person.
‘First of all, he cannot come today because he tested positive, so he has to follow the government guidelines and restrictions and we will see what happens in the next few days,’ said Michels.
‘He was fully in charge throughout the whole week with the preparation for the game, so he knows exactly what’s going on today and we will stay in touch with him during the game also, so it’s all good.’
