睇吓同條友熟唔熟，同埋佢係真係無知定點啦，我對自己有英文名嘅睇法大概係咁：They are both my names- Chinese and English- they're both in my passport. Maybe it's because you weren't born in a multicultural place so it's weird for you to imagine why someone would have a "real" name and a name in a different language. But what is a name? Besides using it for official purposes, it's just a word that you want other people to refer you as. If you really wanted to know why I have an English name when I'm Chinese, it's because my primary school teacher asked all of us to come up with one, I guess that has to do with us having a colonial history, and it's also another way for us to learn more English stuff. Like you'd know from a young age that Peter Paul Katie are English names, but you wouldn't know Roberto Ricardo and Rodrigo because they are Spanish names.

By the way, not only do I have a name in English and Chinese, I have different names for different things- a name on Facebook, a name on Telegram, a name on Reddit, etc. They're all different and serve different purposes. Both my English and my Chinese names are MY names, if you can pronounce my Chinese name properly you are welcome to call me that, otherwise calling me by my English name is fine too.

所有人都會叫佢David 或者 Mr. Beckham， 又或者 nickname Dav or Dave

唔會無啦啦有個Tom 或者 jack, or Tai Man走出嚟

係呀屌 所以先話睇吓你同佢有幾熟。之前有個同事問我我只係話兩個都係我個名囉，仲要有啲笑佢"咩問題嚟架"咁。不過你話想知點答，一大堆英文咁應該只係會喺reddit用
