Thomas Tuchel used his final media interview before the Champions League final to set out his reasoning for selecting a front three of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount.
The Blues boss was speaking an hour ahead of kick-off at the Estadio do Dragao shortly after the team sheets had been submitted. Setting out why the German duo were starting, he pinpointed their close relationship on the field as a key factor in his decision-making.
‘We’ve gone for a little bit of height,’ he said.
‘Timo and Kai are a good couple together up front, good team-mates together with a good feeling for each other.’
