Dear Colleagues and Students,
The University received a report that a Library staff was preliminarily tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday and the staff is now under medical treatment. The last working day of the staff in the library office is 17 March. Other staff working in the same office are considered as close contacts of the preliminary COVID-19 case and they will follow the instructions from the Centre for Health Protection to take compulsory tests and quarantine. The University has also disinfected the concerned workplace and will provide necessary support to the affected staff members.
Based on the latest information available to us, the concerned staff had lunch in the VA Staff Canteen on 16 March. The Department of Health has sent out reminders to those who were dining at the same venue at similar time to advise them to take voluntary tests. Staff members and students who are asymptomatic but have concerns about the risk of infection or their health condition may consider undergoing an in-house COVID-19 test (please refer to the following hyperlink for further details:
