You’ll be able to apply to settle in the UK (also called ‘indefinite leave to remain’) once you’ve lived here for 5 years.

You’ll need to:

meet the English language requirements
pass the Life in the UK Test
have spent no more than 180 days outside the UK in any 12 months in the previous 5 years
pay a fee to apply for settlement

You might need to prove your knowledge of the English language if you’re 18 or over and applying for citizenship or to settle in the UK (known as ‘indefinite leave to remain’).

You can prove it by having either:

an English qualification at B1, B2, C1 or C2 level
a degree taught or researched in English

Time spent on Tier 4 (now called the Student visa) or Tier 5 (now called the Temporary Worker - Government Authorised Exchange visa (T5)) are not routes to settlement and will not count towards the 5 years.

正常應該係批左你BNO VISA果時, 個T4就會作廢
BNO VISA 生效果時先開始計5年, 到時你記得問清楚

Your family members who normally live with you may also be able to apply, including your:

spouse, civil partner or unmarried partner

child (under the age of 18)

adult child born on or after 1 July 1997 (and their spouse, or child under the age of 18)
other family members (parent, grandparent, brother, sister, son or daughter) in exceptional circumstances where there is a high level of dependency

Children under 18 and highly dependent adult family members can only apply for settlement if the main BN(O) applicant is applying for settlement at the same time, or has already been granted settlement, or is already a British citizen.
