I’ve done some minimal research into LLM in Germany - from my understanding, most LLMs in Germany are conducted in German, unless for those focused on ‘international business law’, ‘international tax’, international dispute resolution etc. For these, the courses will be conducted in English.
So in that sense, if you want a master in private international law and think perspective in this area will help, then the LLM should help, and whether Germany is under the continental Law system (or we call civil law) should not really cause a worry, since after all all the LLMs in English in Germany will be on international law anyway.
However I have never heard of anyone in HK with a law degree from Germany - so I don’t know how recognised it will be. This is despite the fact that Germany has a lot of top quality law schools.
Be wary of the fact that I think they do require a law degree to study for an LLM in Germany.
