Pros:
Brightness: is REMARKABLY good for the size. I’m keeping it for this reason alone, even with the increased fan noise. You simply cannot buy a brighter battery powered portable projector at this size. I would gladly take the increased fan noise for the increased versatility.
Form factors: small compact! Excellent. Weirdly glossy though, fingerprint and scratch magnet.
Touchpad input:
Currently not very useful due to the inability to control things like image correction therefore still forcing the user to take along the remote... but theoretically able gain functionality with software updates.
Usb c input: listed twice, but with the right charger I could theoretically eliminate an additional charger when travelling, and it works with the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro out of the box from a single usb c cable.
Autofocus: listed twice, but some competing units don’t even have autofocus.
Build quality of the main unit: feels very solid and well built. Reports of a loose gear seem to be fixable with more quality control.
Free carrying case: it’s free and it works!
Free garbage tripod: it’s very light and it’s free.
Summary:
Buy it as a simple projector and you’ll be satisfied with it for most use cases. The image is not completely terrible (especially with the improvement in sharpness after the .24 update and some manual tuning of settings)
Is it good value? No. The mogo pro does most of the important things in a portable projector better and at a lower price...at the expense of adding lower brightness, another charger and lacking usb c input.
Could there be an alternative?
You could consider the xgimi z6, aaxa p7, aaxa 4k1 if you didn’t mind the lack of battery power.
You could consider a fully sized projector from any of the major brands of you wanted a brighter sharper image.
You could consider the anker nebula upcoming series of projectors which also seem to have android baked in.
