TLDR; I urge the people of the free world to hold rallies and marches on September 29th to show China that the world stands with Hong Kong, and that the it does not tolerate China’s blatant disregard for human rights, freedoms, and rule of law. Stand with Hong Kong, fight for freedom.
To the people of the free world,
October 1st is China’s national day cum 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Communist Party. To celebrate this monumental event, I hereby ask the people of the free world to organise rallies and marches on September 29th to show the CCP that the world stands with the people of Hong Kong.
Hong Kongers have been fighting for the five demands for 15-consecutive weeks and counting, and we have tried everything, from besieging government complexes to marching peacefully (on three occasions, millions of people participated), to storming the Legislative Council complex, and even fighting fire with fire. Instead of answering to the people’s demands, the government has chosen to suppress our free speech by condoning and supporting the police force’s gratuitous violence in crackdowns, sanctioned triads to indiscriminately attack civilians on multiple occasions, and even launched a full-fledged terrorist attack on August 31st in subway stations, resulting in a number of injuries (a few people have mysteriously disappeared after the incident, leading to speculations that they had been murdered).
The people of Hong Kong have reiterated their five demands over and over again, and to no avail. The tyrannical-puppet-Hong Kong government blatantly ignored its people’s demands and has attempted to silence protestors by a chilling effect. Hongkongers’ basic rights and freedoms (of speech, of the press, of assembly) have been corroding ever since the handover in 1997, and its effects are impactful as ever.
Apropos of this, I (or rather, we,) urge the people of the free world to hold rallies and marches on September 29th to show China that the world stands with Hong Kong; show China that the world does not condone its blatant disregard of human rights and rule of law. We are on the very frontline of a war against authoritarianism.
Stand with Hong Kong, fight for freedom.
Yours sincerely,
Hong Kongers.
