Dear Mr Andrew Heyn,
I am a permanent resident of Hong Kong and a British Citizen passport holder. I am now writing to you asking for help with the current chaotic situation in Hong Kong.
Since 9th June 2019, the protests of anti-extradition bill has been on-going, which has escalated quickly into endless violence incidents caused by police brutality. The Hong Kong Police Force has been using unreasonably excessive force against protesters and non-protesting residents, some of which are even potentially lethal - excessive firing of tear gas, use of expired tear gas, rubber bullet and baton usage aiming at people's head. On 11 August 2019, media had also capture policemen acting as "undercover" to incite protesters violent act. On the same day, a female protester was shot by the police in the face around the eye area, causing permanent vision loss.
As only a resident in Hong Kong, after endless massive protests, many of us felt hopeless with the current government and the Police Force. Hong Kong is no longer a safe city for anyone to live in or visit.
May I now ask for your help to -
1. Condemn the wrongdoing of the Hong Kong Police Force
2. Urge the FCO to update Travel Advice to Hong Kong as "Not recommended for travel"
3. Evacuate all British nationals; and
4. Close the UK Consulate in Hong Kong to express distrust in the Hong Kong government in protecting her residents.
Yours sincerely,
XXX
