Cech reacted to the news by posting on Twitter that he had not yet made a decision on his future.
‘Despite the news today as I had already said to everybody before, I’ll make decision about my future after the last game . Now my sole focus is to win the EL with @Arsenal,’ he wrote.
However, that didn’t go down well with some Arsenal fans, who demanded that Bernd Leno be picked for the final instead of Cech, who has played every minute so far for the Gunners during the knockout rounds of the Europa League.
‘Even though I'm sure Cech is hugely professional and will wish to bow out of his playing career with a winners medal, the fact he is rejoining Chelsea is a huge conflict of interest and football has no room for sentiment. If we play the final Leno HAS to be in goal,’ said one fan.
