This both a ridiculous and wonderful gif. Terrestrial crabs feed on a wide variety of foods, sometimes peeling bark back from trees to find insects or to eat rotting vegetation. I think this little jerk is doing just that. A second option is it's tasting the paint and deciding it's not food, but given crabs are not very smart it just keeps going. They're running on instinct here.
