Many users in the forum claimed that Malta is too crowd because it packs 400thousands people with a size around 1/3 of hk
I think those users will be scared to death if they come to visit Hk

https://www.facebook.com/HongkongerinUK/posts/983529821747177:0

Our views are based on our own experiences in life.

Once we have seen studio flats in Hong Kong up for sale with a price tag of at lease HK$10,000 per sq ft, then lots of properties in the UK (outside London or the South East) are 'very cheap' for their size.

If you are planning to move to Malta soon, you should go and visit the country as soon as possible.

You can try and get an UK working holiday visa first. Once you find an IT related job, your employer may be able to sponsor you for a Tier 2 (General) work permit. You can get Indefinite Leave to Remain (永久居留) after 5 years and British Citizenship a year after.

For those who have British Citizenship in Hong Kong planning to move to an EU country under the freedom of movement, you need to start planning your move now! As the BBC news article blow suggested that the UK government is not willing to continue with the freedom of movement for EU citizens to the UK after Brexit in March 2019.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-40957301

If this is the case, I cannot see the EU will allow British Citizens freedom of movement in the EU. Those of you with British Citizenship wanting to work or settle in another EU country may not be able to do so after Brexit in March 2019.

You may have British Citizenship without knowing it. You need to answer a few questions -

1) How did your parents get their British Citizenship?
2) Did either of them had British Citizenship when you were born?
3) Were you born before the 1 January 1983?

In very simple terms, if you were born before the 1 January 1983, you can only get British Citizenship from your father only. On the other hand, on or after 1 January 1983, you can get British Citizenship via either your father or mother.

As long as your father (or mother if you were born on or after 1 January 1983) had British Citizenship and married to your mother when you were born in Hong Kong, then you are a British Citizen by descent. This means that you are entitle to a British Citizen passport. You can apply using the link below -

https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

As a British Citizen by descent, you cannot automatically pass on your British Citizenship to your children born outside of the UK.

Your sister, on the other hand, is a British Citizen otherwise than by descent (as she was born in the UK). This means that she can pass on her British Citizenship to her children born outside of the UK.

However, if your parents were not married at the time of your birth in Hong Kong or only your mother held British Citizenship and you were born before 1 January 1983, you will need to apply for registration as British Citizen. Please see link below for details -

Weather in Malta during the winter should not be too bad, after all it is located in the Mediterranean Sea.
